There are reasons why we accommodate our trekkers in Sankri instead of Dhaula on the first day of the Rupin Pass trek.
Beautiful Place with much better amenities and Great Views: Firstly, Sankri is very beautiful place with grand views of the Swargarohinis. It has shops and other required amenities to help you do the last moment shopping like few medicines, making few phone calls, proper hotels, hot shower, rations, etc. Dhaula, on the other hand, has nothing but just a couple of home. Dhaula is very remote and bit dirty too with flies flying all over due to dungs of domestic livestock.

Relax At Our beautiful homestay in Sankri with local organic kitchen serving delicious organic and local cuisines: We have our own Homestay or Trekker's Lodge in Sankri where we provide full fledged homestay experience on the first day of the trek. Amenities like hot water, proper toilets, drinking water, etc especially after a hectic drive from Dehradun and your hometown. These are very important for any trekker on the first day of the trek.

Keeping in Sankri helps our trekkers hire equipment easily.

Better Acclimatization for the Trek: From acclimatization point of view, staying in Sankri is better as it is about 500 meters above Dhaula and and about 400 meters above the first camp in Sewa. So comparatively, the height difference between Jakha and Sankri is only about 750 meters but that between Dhaula and Jakha is about 1250 meters. So staying in Sankri on the first night helps your body to acclimatize better and faster as compared to camping in Dhaula for the first night since your body already adjusts to 1920 meters whereas your second campsite is at just 1500 meters only.
Cheaper travel option for smaller groups or budget friendly trekkers: The travel cost from Dehradun to Sankri is little lesser than that of Dhaula. Moreover, there are 4 buses that leaves Dehraun every morning and arrives in Sankri everyevening. So anyone willing to take the bus to Sankri to save some extra money can do so as the bus fare is just Rs. 300 only. Communication to Dhaula is very problematic and demands hiring of a private vehicle at any cost.
