A trek very pious to the Hindus, a route which was used by the Pandavas to attain Swarg (Heaven).. and an interesting mythological story gives this trek a special feel, apart from the views of mighty peaks and a serene lake it boasts of..
Satopanth tal ( lake ), a triangular shaped lake at the base of Satopanth peak is considered holy and its believed that the Tridevs ( 3 gods of Hindu) - Bhahma, Vishnu and Mahesh takes bath here on 11th day by Hindu Calendar. There is a small home built there where a Sadhu Baba by name - Mouni Baba ( silent baba) lives on his own.
Views of Chaukhamba, Satopanth, Neelkanth, Parvati and Balakun makes this trek one of the best in the Himalayas. The beauty part of it is, it takes just 3 days to reach there from Mana - A border village. The sounds of Vasudhara falls enroute this trek will be heard for a long time.. The trek is short distance, but at high altitude. So for a successful trek its better you climb up slow and speed down on descend. Also, the weather here is very unpredictable and mostly after noon, it shows a tendency to worsen.
Oh Yes !! After the trek, don't you forget to take a hot bath in the hot springs of Tapta Kund, in Badrinath. Spending a night in a stone cave is not at all a bad idea on this trek, atleast for a night.
