Today we get the first view of The Sleeping Buddha and the magic of the dawn on the high white mountains.

Early morning we wake up and leave for Tumling in a landrover. It takes us about 30 minutes to reach Tumling. As soon as we climb Chitre, the grand mountains open themselves to us to its grand sunrise spell. As we reach Tonglu, our heart flies out to the mountains as we see the Sleeping Buddha being lighted up with the early morning rays of the sun. With a panorama of more than 16 famous Himalayan peaks, it is a grand show that mother nature performs before the lucky ones. Kanchenjunga, the 3rd highest peak of the world dominates them all. We can also see Mt. Everest from here from a little hidden corner.

We have our breakfast in Tonglu and then start the trek to Kalipokhari. We leave after having breakfast. As soon as we start our trek, we enter the Singalila National Park entry gate. There we need to show our permits. Our trek route is exceptionally beautiful throughout the day as it passes through the dense forest of the Singalila National Park. It offers us a great chance to see lots of wild animals on the trek route. After about 2 hours of the trek through the jungle, we reach Gairibas, a village in Nepal. We might choose to break for tea here and then head towards Kayakatta, a 2 KM steep switchbacks. We have a hot lunch in Kaiyakatta at a local family's home.

From Kayakatta it's almost a flat walk of 4 km to Kalapokhari - 'The Black Pond', marked with furling Buddhist prayer flags and a small Chorten. Watch out for wild animals and birds in the entire trek trail today. This walk is one of the best on this trek.

Overnight In: Sandakphu (Aalley) (3636m )
    Accommodation: Homestay in Sandakphu (Alley)
    Meals Included: All Meals

We start a bit relaxed today as we have a very short distance to cover. It's an easy walk initially for the first 2 kilometres before hitting the steeper stretch to Sandakphu for the last 4 kilometres. Keep an eye for Mt. Kanchenjunga and Mt. Kumbhakarna on your right while walking through the beautiful landscape. At 3636 meters, Sandakphu is the highest point of West Bengal and is shared between India and Nepal. From here, you can see more than 26 peaks of the Everest and Kanchenjunga range and that of Bhutan too!

Sandakphu remains above the clouds most of the time and often we get to witness a dense 'sea of clouds' from here. On a clear day, the visibility goes very as far as the plains of Siliguri and the Queen Of The Hills - Darjeeling. It gets chilly during the months of November and gets a good amount of snowfall in the winter.

We move further to a place called Alley in Nepal for tonight. This we typically do to avoid the noisy crowd of Sandakphu and rather stay in a quiet place in the forest with a much better ambience and solitude. This also helps us reduce the long walk that we need to do tomorrow.

The Sandakphu Phalut Trek is all about the glory of a Himalayan sunrise and sunset on the high snow-capped peaks. Today, yet again we wake up early to witness the aura of the Himalayan Sunrise from the Sandakphu sunrise viewpoint. We climb up a close hill-top to watch the Sunrise lightening up the giant peaks. From here, you can see Mt. Everest, Makalu, Lhotse, Nuptse, Chamling, Chomolonzo, Everest Three Sisters, Kanchenjunga family of mountains, and other high peaks of Sikkim and Bhutan. It's a breathtaking view from the top. Once satisfied with the views, we return to freshen up and get ready for our long, but most beautiful and easiest trek towards Phalut.

On the route to Molley, the sight of Mt. Everest on our left keeps us motivated throughout the trail. On a clear day, we can see the Annapurna range of mountains including Macchapucchare - the Fish Tail Mountain. The sharp peak of Baruntse looks elegant too!

The trail is further beautified by forests, alpine meadows with yaks and sheep grazing on its grasses, colourful flowers, and high snowy peaks of the Nepal Himalayas. The trail swirls through the forest trail almost a flat gentle walk and as we near Sabargram, it gently climbs up to reach Sabargram, from where it's a simple downhill 2km walk to Molley. Molley is a beautiful place to spoend overnight right in the middle of the forest

Today is the day we watch the mountains up close from Phalut. The Sunrise Viewpoint in Phalut offers the best and closest view on this entire trek. The early morning rays of the sun turn the peaks into a golden mountain glowing with might !! Each of the peaks has its own beauty and presents itself in its own aura to catch your eyes and take away your heart !! We spend enough time to soak in the beauty of the mountains into our Minds, Heart, and souls. The mountains have the power to get you lost in your own world of thoughts as you enjoy seeing it.

Though you will never be satisfied with such views of the peaks, and from such a close distance, we will leave once we feel we should for breakfast and then head out for our easy descend to Gorkhey. We leave for our easy trek through beautiful forests to Gorkhey - one of the most beautiful Hamlet you can find in the Himalayas. The village of Gorkhey is a perfect picturesque village which we used to draw in our childhood. Villagers working in the field or women busy with household activities, the swirling river passing by the side of the village, domestic animals and hens working out their food, variety of wild birds chirping around, tall trees offering shadow, colourful flowers dancing with the slow wind, village kids playing around....  all in the shadow of beautiful mountains of the Himalayas!

We break here for the night.

The trek is more safer, less crowdier, enjoyable and easier as well. Now we drive to Tumling on Day 1 to ignore the landrover noise, touristic crowd in Tumling, steeper climb on road to Chitrey and most importantly, reduce distance to Phalut by staying overnight at Molley
