Day 1Arrival In Leh
Overnight In: Leh (3500m )
Accommodation: Hotel
Meals Included: None
Cost Of Transport Included: No
Activity: Fly, Rest, Acclimatize Day
Today, we fly from Delhi to reach Leh by afternoon, and checkin to our hotel. All of a sudden when you take in the cool dry air of Ladakh, your body won't not conform to the new changed environment, that too in only couple of hours !!
Staying hydrated is the key to a successful trek in Ladakh. Drink enough water from the previous night itself, and not after landing on Ladakh. Likewise, have a Vaseline convenient to apply to your nostrils to keep it moist, else you will feel the air is excessively dry and cold making it difficult to inhale comfortably.
We rest for the rest of the day and meet in the evening for a light Snacks and a formal Team Introduction where we share few important information on the trek preparation and planning.
Time for Dinner to catch some more sleep.

Today we spend our day visiting places around Leh and acclimatizing further. Leh is at very high altitude and this day is very important for us. We visit places like Leh Palace, Chemo Monastery, Shanti Stupa, etc.
Each of these places can be hiked to and its the best for us to do, if we are not feeling exhausted. If we do, we need to take some light walks in the town itself for some window shopping. Leh has some good shops selling trekking gears. So you can do some last moment purchases.
Evening we will visit the monastery of Shanti Stupa to seek some peaceful aura around it.
Tomorrow we start the trek. Hence we recheck that we are all set for it. Do the last moment purchases, repack our bag according to the trek requirement, have dinner and sleep early.

Today we start early morning to drive till Chilling. The bridge to cross the river is broken by the recent flood and hence you get to cross the river in an interesting rope trolley. I bet if if have not done it before, adventure begins right away!
All your trek stuffs and equipment are transferred in the similar fashion. Once you cross the river, the horses are loaded and then we are set to start our trek to Markha Valley. Today, we camp at Skiu – A 3 hour easy trek on mostly flat trail with occasional short ascends and descend.
The trek route is very interesting and the landscape is very fascinating and unique. Sudden appearance of few green patches on the otherwise barren, creamy mountain adds a unique contrast to the scenery. Sightings of few wild animals and locals enhances the day. Our campsite is defined and we after some 3- 4 hours, we reach our campsite.

Waking up to a wonderful morning in Skiu, today we trek to the village of Markha. An easy trek with almost a flat walks on most part of the trail, with occasional short ascents and descends like yesterday's.
The views throughout are breathtaking. Watch out for the different and unique rockscapes and structures of the mountains formed by wind and water erosion. With our previous experiences, we tried to tickle our imagination with the illusions created by these unique structures and strongly supported our conclusions of what they looked like - ‘trunks of elephant’, ‘doorway to a very old tomb’, 'dinosaurs', etc. Its an interesting game to play which keeps us engaged with the mountains continuously and it goes unrealized when we reach our campsite.
Markha is a very beautiful campsite. The campsite is designated on a flat meadow with the a stream flowing by. Do take time out in the evening to visit an old monastery nearby.

The trek to Thochungtse goes via Hankar from Markha. It a beautiful trek and takes about 4 - 5 hours. The route to Hankar is mostly flat with occasional ups and downs. Soon, we get a glimpse of Kang Yatse which fills us with excitement. After about 3 hours of trek we reach the beautiful village of Hankar with few houses, lots of greens and the massif of Kang Yatse looks over it. Its a perfect picturesque setting. Its a good idea to spend some time here and have our lunch here.
After leaving Hankar behind, the terrain changes immediately with no mentionable greens to be seen further. The route is jaw-dropping with unique structures of the mountains and the rocks. Here its very easy to spot blue sheep and ibex, snow leopards too !!
A walk of some 2 - 3 hours brings us to a small grassy plains which is the designated campsite of Thochungtse.
In the evening, we will climb the nearby mountain for acclimatization. While it is a acclimatization walk, but climbing up the mountain greets us to a stupendous views of our pea in focus - Kang Yatse, and also other nearby peaks and the platue of Nimaling

Starting the trek from Thochungtse, we climb a mountain hump straight ahead of us. At that altitude, it does take some time, but once done, enjoy up-close views of Kang Yatse. A huge massif, overwhelming us with its presence. Also, the very thought that we will be approaching the to the base of it further adds to our spirit.
After a hour from Thochungtse, we reach a small lake where we rest and watch the reflection of Kang Yatse on the water surface. Its from here, the route splits and one goes to Kang Yatse base camp and the other one descends to Nimaling. We take a right and head to the base camp of Kang Yatse. It takes us about 2 hours from here to reach the base camp.

Today is the day for us as we attempt it just past midnight at around 1 AM and aim to reach the top at dawn. All these days we had been walking slowly, when we could have walked faster, just for this day. We have ensured that we enjoy as much without being bothered about climbing this peak just because we wanted to climb it.
Overall, it’s a challenging day right from the beginning and we try to beat it. To be able to be on top, is a feeling inexpressible. The route climbs towards your right straight up initially over a scree zone and then follows a steep climb on snow to take us to the summit. From the summit, witness all round views of peaks as far as that of East Karakoram, and the surrounding peaks of Kang Yatse.
We descend down from the summit in time, and it requires some safe steps. We need to be careful while coming down. If energy allows, we can descend down to Nimaling and camp there, else we camp in Base Camp itself.
Day 9Reserved Day For Contingency
This is a planned reserved day to keep window for bad weather and other contiongencies. If unutilized, we can spend this day in any other campsite of our liking. The cost of this day is included in the trek package. If you decide to finish your trek instead of utilizing this resereved day, no money will be refunded and the local resources will be paid in full.

Today we initially climb the small hill which divides Nimaling and the Base Camp, and then quickly descend down to Nimaling.
From Nimaling, we start climbing the switch backs to the top of Kongmaru La (Gongmaru La) – 5130m, a high pass with wonderful views all round. Climbing through multiple switch backs takes us to the summit of Kongmaru La in an hour or a little more, marked with lots of prayer flags furling with the wind. Spend some good time here to relish the views all round.
After crossing the pass, it’s a steep descend down the beautiful Markha gorge. The views and the trail passes down following the narrow Markha gorge and is unbelievable unless you trek it. A sharp descend from the pass top gets us to Lartsa. From there, a trek of some 3 - 4 hours will bring you to the campsite of Chuskirmo. If we havent used the reserved day, we will camp here. Else, we move put some more effort and walk for another couple of hours towards Shang Sumdo, from where we board our cab to Leh

Today is THE DAY for us. We will attempt the Stok Kangri summit today. We start our long testing day to the summit post midnight around 1 AM in order to reach the summit on sunrise. All our previous day's efforts and acclimatization walks will be tested and brought into use today.
The route climbs up straight to the top of the hill we climbed previous day, and from there is descends to the glacier. A small crevasse can be negotiated with a slight jump, although in the dark, you should stay alert and together with the team. After you jump the crevasse and traverse the glacier, your next bid is to climb to the ridge leading to the summit of Stok Kangri. Never-ending switch backs follows and the high altitude makes it very slow.
Once you reach the ridge, the day might dawn. From the ridge, the trek to the summit is straight forward, although you need to be careful. After a continuous push of some 6 hours, you reach the top. of Stok Kangri. Standing there, you will realize, all the pain was worth taking to be where you are !!
While climbing is important, descending safely is more important. Descend usually is quite faster and you loose altitude very quick. We come back to the base camp and celebrate.
If time and energy allows, we descend down to Monkorma to rest for the night.

Itinerary and our service ends. You will be dropped to the airport as per plan.
- A rare chance to summit two 6000 meter, high value peaks in a matter of just 2 weeks in the magical land of Ladakh Himalayas.
- The mesmerizing and heart winning landscape of Ladakh: If you have not witnessed the magic which the mountains of Ladakh does to your heart, you have lost on so many things in life.
- No mountaineering techniques required: This is probably a very rare opportunity to trek to a summit of a mountain 6200 meters high with no skills of mountaineering techniques. All what is required is to be fit and have a good physical stamina and mental endurance.
- View of K2, Second highest mountain of the World, in Karakoram: On a clear day, K2, Nun-Kun and Nanga Parvat reveals itself from the summit.
- The route approaches the base camp of Kang Yatse through Markha Valley which is one of the most beautiful valley in entire Ladakh and has historical significance.
- The sightings of rare flora and fauna of the Hemis National Park is definitely an add-on. From Mountain Goats, Marmots, Red Foxes to the elegant and elusive Snow Leopard. Here's all...
- Witnessing and experiencing the hospitality and cultural integrity of the locals and villages of Ladakh will be a life defining experience.
Stok Kangri is closed for the next 3 years till 2022. Hence Climbing Stok Kangri is not possible during this time. We recommend you to summit Dzo Dzongo instead in the same itinerary and cost. Dzo Dzongo is a 6100-meter peak in the same region and presents similar challenges as climbing Stok Kangri.
Kang Yatse II - A 6200 meter, glamorous looking mountain peak standing tall right in the Markha Valley is a gem of a mountain and a gift to the mountaineering enthusiasts. The magnificence of this mountain massif has won the hearts of numerous individuals who crave to touch it and stand over it to feel the Himalayan High that is there on its summit, which is as high as 6200 Meters!
This gem has 2 summits - one achieves a height of 6401 meters and is a specialized technical peak, while the second one achieves the elevation of 6200 meters and is a non-technical trekking peak. Although, the fact that its a trekking peak does not imply that it is simple, but rather it just facilitates an easier route up to its summit which does not require any technical ice or rock climbing skills. Trekkers attempting the second peak of Kang Yatse needn't bother themselves with highly specialized abilities to scale it, however having the knowledge of it definitely makes a difference.
It can be thought of as an "Introduction to Mountaineering" in the high Himalayas. The elevation, territory, slope of the ascent, snow conditions and frost offers enough challenges even to the fit and experienced trekkers. Kang Yatse being a lesser-known and remote peak in the beautiful mountain ranges of Ladakh offers an extraordinary affair with the Himalayas.
Stok Kangri, on the other hand, is a 6153-meter peak in the Stok range of mountains in the Ladakh Himalayas. It is undoubtedly the most popular trekking peak in Ladakh. Although popular, it is not that easy and puts a great test to a trekker's mental and physical capacities to reach its summit. It is definitely one of the must-do treks in the Indian Himalayas. If you are a trekker and love the high altitude trekking peaks than Stok Kangri need not be introduced to you. Trekkers frequent Stok Kangri and a well-acclimatized body with good stamina can climb this peak very comfortably in less than 3 days from Leh.
The itinerary that we have designed for Kang Yatse and Stok Kangri Twin Summit is one of the very popular travel plans for hardcore trekkers visiting Ladakh in India. We have designed one of the rarest and the best hiking plan one can ever be on, while planning to trek in the cold desert of Ladakh. Though we see many itineraries similar to this plan over the internet now after we introduced it broadly. On this trek, you experience the charm of Ladakh, get stunned and overtaken by the magical and mesmerizing mountains, the rich cultural intensity of the land, welcoming and hospitable locals, sight of rare flora and fauna of the Hemis National Park including the super elusive Snow Leopard makes this trek a wonderful way to celebrate and live the mystical mountains of Ladakh. In the same process as you slowly trek through the beautiful Markha Valley, you end up climbing two 6000 meter peaks as well taking yourself Beyond 6000 Meters.
The approach march to the base of Kang Yatse takes the route through the beautiful Markha Valley Trek. While you walk the Markha Valley, you are walking in one of the Wolrd's ancient civilization Indus Valley Civilization most of which lies in today's Pakistan. It starts from the roadhead of Chilling and passes by the old and traditional villages of Skiu, Markha, Hankar. Its when you reach the village of Hankar, you get the first glance of the peak you want to climb and stand on top. Continuing further from Hankar, you pass by Thochungtse where you have the best probability of sighting a snow leopard and blue sheep. After Thochungtse, we enter the remote regions of the Markha and reach the base camp of Kang Yatse which is at 5000 meters. Kang Yatse Massif dominates the entire trail and from the base camp, it stands tall right in front of you. We spend a day acclimatizing and sorting our equipment and also giving our body proper rest which is very much required to climb on the peak next day for which the team starts at midnight. A hard walk over scree and snow on a steep gradient takes us to the summit. The beauty of the Land of Magic increases as we keep gaining height and constantly motivates you. Once we reach the summit, climbing on the ropes, we feel peace and are anxious at the same time. It's a feeling which most of us cannot describe in words. If we try, that gets very common...
After successfully summiting Kang Yatse, we return back to take on another giant peak of Ladakh, and that is Stok Kangri. We cross the high pass of Kongmaru La and then trek to the base camp of Stok Kangri. A focused and motivated attempt on the summit of Stok Kangri gives us success and we exit through the Stok Village. This brings an end to a 15-day memorable sojourn which we will remember for a lifetime and keep inspiring many others too!

Markha Valley Trek
If you do not want to return to Leh in between, you can do so by crossing a pass called Matho La via Gangpoche from Chyuskirmo and then reaching the Base Camp of Stok Kangri via Mankormo
WHY SHOULD YOU CLIMB WITH US?
Unlike the mass-trekking and hand-held trekking groups in our country, we, on all of our treks, inspire and motivate to boost more of the Intrinsic and Inherent Adventure Sense of a human being when it comes to our work ethics. We human beings are born to Survive. It is just about letting yourself free to get back your intrinsic senses to adapt, survive and then excel.
Having said that, we take safety as a first matter of concern on any of our treks, and hence provide the Guides and Leaders who are tremendously experienced, knowledgeable, responsible and capable of handling such treks. We keep our group size limited to 12 people on challenging treks like this as smaller groups have more summit success rate since the team is more focused on their objectives, share common physical abilities, are safer and friendlier. Most importantly, our filtration and selective process ensures that the team, unlike that of the mass-trekking groups, is not limited by the weaknesses of the unfiltered, incompetent and unmanageable flock joining the team. Smaller group also helps to create an ambient Himalayan experience of Solitude, giving priority to Safety, Easy Management, Maximum Attention, Utmost care, Friendly attitude, and a Learning experience to make you a better and a humble trekker.
Our forced efforts to keep the group size small have given us a very nice success rate on the summits of these trekking peaks in the Himalayas. Our itinerary and meal plan is very well planned and with further orientation and planning, we move closer to the summit with each of these carefully decided actions.
The equipment that we provide on the treks are some of the best in the industry. Few of those are designed and custom-made just to suit our purpose of a safe and comfortable trek experience. We provide you with all the gears required to be better equipped for the trek. The quality of local resources, cooks and porters are not neglected and we make sure that we hire responsible local resources for your group accompanied by one of our leaders who further ensures that the quality of services are delivered as promised and forms a liaison between the group and the local hires. Right from the food that we serve on the trek to the toilet tents and camping toilet seat that we provide, dining tents to a separate camping stools, pre-trek orientation to proper coordination, SOS arrangements, etc - Everything is taken care of with utmost professionalism and expertise of the field.
