Kang Yatse 2 - Summit History For Team Himalayan High from 2015 to 2019

Kang Yatse 2 Summit Climbing History

Here is our Historical data for the last 5 years, on the summit of Kang Yatse 2 - 6223-meter peak, Ladakh.

We have achieved a Summit Success rate of 73% over the last 5 years from 2015, right from the beginning of Himalayan High till the end of Summer 2019. Over these years, 76 trekkers from India and other countries like US, UK, France, Switzerland, Turkey, Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Canada, South Africa, UAE, etc. climbed with us.

Out of 76 climbers, 62 trekkers attempted the peak after reaching base camp, 45 of them stood successfully on the summit. Many of them actually overcame harsh weather and snow conditions to reach the summit, in the leadership of our Team.

We believe this is the result of our well-crafted itinerary, meal plan better suited for High altitude, and comfortable camping which solved the acclimatization problem well. Also, something which worked well was the effort and ethics of filtering the team to select only fit and mentally strong trekkers join our group. This resulted in forming better & stronger teams who could face a variety of demands called by the Adventures of climbing a 6223-meter peak in the cold desert of Ladakh. All of these when guided by an experienced and positive support team of Himalayan High resulted in obtaining a good success rate on the summit of the peak.

For us, another significant achievement is that we motivated beginners having good physical stamina and positive mindset to do this peak and they successfully summited breaking the stigma that only experienced trekkers should attempt it. Experience definitely helps, but being a good listener and following the instructions of your leaders and other experienced team mates solves that problem, but there is no alternative to fitness, stamina, and mental endurance.

We promote trekking without Diamox and using it only as an emergency drug. Fixing this as an ethical benchmark, we always promote Natural Acclimatizatrion as the way to solve the problem of High Altitude Mountain Sickness. Almost all of our trekkers including beginners successfully scaled the peak by following all the rules of natural acclimatization and using Diamox only on very few cases as an emergency drug. We believe this gives out the message straight forward to those who promote creating medicated bunch of trekkers as a community in our country, even for low altitude treks.

Finally, credit remains due to the trek leaders and their assistants for whatever result we have achieved till now. We are working hard to further improve the numbers but with safety as the priority. As we move into the 6th year, we believe we will further improve on the numbers and support many other enthusiasts scale the elegant peak in Ladakh.

Every day I keep learning new things, but as of now, I think I can describe myself as a Loyal Himalayan Lover, Avid Trekker, Student Of Mountaineering, Amateur Photographer and an Enthusiastic Anthropologist. I am a Computer Science Engineer by education and previously worked as a Software Developer for premium IT companies. However, I quit the luxury of a high-earning corporate job and left behind the herd to walk towards the spiritual path laid down by the Godly Himalayas. At the age of 27 with no savings at all and being the only son from a lower-middle-class family, it was too young to fight against the family who in turn had to fight against the rules laid down by society. However, with my determination and perseverance, everything became smooth by passing time.

It wasn't easy for me as I learnt the hard way from mistakes - my own and by observing others. I fought 2 major road accidents that broke my right tibia and femur. I underwent 7 surgeries that kept me away from the mountains, but I patiently fought them all to get back to trekking again in the Himalayas with rods and plates in my bones. Despite doctors saying I cannot walk properly ever again to getting back to trekking on the difficult routes again, Life made me understand very clearly what it wants out of me in this World. It wants me to serve the Himalayas and its community, live a peaceful, content and simple life. That's what I have dedicated my this life to. I am not religious, but spiritual. The Himalayas define my road.

The Himalayas today is spammed by mushrooming trek agencies and big companies who take pride in being India's Largest, biggest, oldest, etc. They are exploiting everything for the sake of profit. It is in dire need of regulation by credible Government authorities, Sustainable Tourism Practices needs to be forced upon every organisation, Small Group Sizes needs to be mandated, Fixed camping should be restricted in alpine zones and Negative Ecological Impact Trekking Protocols should be laid down immediately by governing bodies. With all these objectives, I founded Himalayan High in the year 2015. Learn more about Himalayan High on About Himalayan High
